New Baskerville is a typeface based on the classic typeface originally designed by British type founder and printer John Baskerville in 1762. Considered a commercial failure when it was introduced, it was revived n the early 20th century.

The Challenge
The entire typeface had to be highlighted and presented in an engaging manner. This included the entire alphabet, numbers and punctuation.

Having read (and enjoyed) Sherlock Holmes, I decided to create an homage to both the typeface and the author. This display takes a scene from the The Hound of the Baskervilles, and with the addition of a few extra lines, achieves the goal of using the entire typeface.

Details
The layout uses the typeface in graduated sizes, from 9 pt to 15 pt, and also graudates the line spacing and leading. The image was created on a phototypesetter, and custom Letraset was created for the color areas.

The cover of the book was designed using the phototypesetter and custom Letraset to create the title and spine.
